4th Plow

4th PLOW Edition (Spring 2015) —— February 28, 2015

The 4th PLOW edition, sponsored by the Département de Génie Informatique et Génie Logiciel, will take place on February 28, 2015 at Polytechnique Montréal, as part of the SANER 2015 week. The goal of this event is to perform and document data analysis using IPython Notebook and the Python Data Analysis Library (Pandas). Students will follow hands-on lectures and labs, and participate in a small team-based competition (PLOW Challenge). There will also be an invited talk.

Registration is $50 for students and $150 for other participants (additional discount of $25 for SANER 2015 participants), which includes lunch and coffee breaks. For practical reasons, the maximum number of participants is limited to 50.

The event will be located in room L4812, 4th floor of Pavillons Lassonde, MacKay-Lassonde .


Tutor: Dr. Giovanni Beltrame

Dr. Giovanni BeltrameGiovanni Beltrame holds a PhD from Politecnico di Milano (2006). From 2006 he worked as a microelectronics engineer at the European Space Agency until 2010, and he is currently an Assistant Professor at École Polytechnique de Montréal, Canada, where he directs the MIST Laboratory.

Giovanni is a Python enthusiast and has led the development of some large software projects based on Python (ReSP, TRAP, and MORFIN). He uses Python daily for data analysis, visualization, and preparation of scientific manuscripts.
